چکیده

We previously have shown that the mucosa of the airways is injured after suctioning, but the effect of this damage on mucus transport has not been systematically investigated. We measured bronchial mucus velocity of conscious sheep after tracheostomy and bronchial mucus velocity after suctioning the bronchi with three different catheters (Bard side end-hole, Aero-Flo, and TnFlo catheters). Tracheostomy in sheep produced a significant depression of right and left bronchial mucus velocity three hours after surgery, but at 24 hours, this measurement returned to baseline and remained at this value seven to ten days later. Interrupted suction in a preselected bronchus every ten minutes for three hours

Effect of Open Suctioning of Artificial Airway Based on the Comprehensive Criteria for Suctioning on the Patients' Hemodynamic Status Hospitalized in the Intensive Care Units

Background and Objectives: Artificial airway suctioning is an important intervention to take care of mechanically ventilated patients. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of artificial airway suction based on the comprehensive criteria for suctioning on the patients' hemodynamic status in ICU. Materials and Methods: This study was a randomized clinical trial by before-after ...

Heated air humidification versus cold air nebulization in newly tracheostomized patients

BACKGROUND After tracheostomy, the airway lacks an essential mechanism for warming and humidifying the inspired air with the consequent functional impairment and discomfort. The purpose of this study was to compare airway hydration with cold-air nebulization versus heated high-flow humidification on medical interventions and tracheal ciliary beat frequency (CBF). METHODS Newly tracheostomized...

تأثیر فشردن قفسه سینه در زمان بازدم قبل از ساکشن داخل تراشه بر تبادل گازهای خون شریانی بیماران تحت تهویه مکانیکی

Background & Aim : Endotracheal suctioning is one of the most frequently used methods for airway clearance in patients under mechanical ventilation. Chest physiotherapy techniques such as expiratory rib cage compression before endotracheal suctioning can be used as a means to facilitate mobilizing and removing airway secretions and improving alveolar ventilation. This study was carried out to...

مقایسه تأثیر ساکشن داخل تراشه به دو روش باز و بسته بر شاخص ها و پایداری فیزیولوژیک نوزادان نارس تحت تهویه مکانیکی

Background & Aim: Premature infants are the most admitted group to NICUs. Stabilization of cardio pulmonary parameters is a main goal in NICUs. Mechanical ventilation and endothracheal suctioning are the most common and effective procedures to stabilize cardio pulmonary parameters. The aim of present study was to compare the effects of two endothracheal suctioning methods (open and closed) on...
